Today marked history and it was an honor to be in attendance at the Richard Rodgers Theatre for the Sector New York Change of Command . Rear Admiral Zeita Merchant, USCG ⚓️ 🛟 was frocked to the rank of rear admiral lower half while CAPT Jonathan Andrechik, USCG assumed his new role as Sector Commander and Captain of the Port . Taking part in the ceromony was AdmiralJohn Mauger First District Commander who is a great leader and always has inspirational words and Linda fa*gan The Commandant of the USCG, who is a prime example of “if you can make it here you can make it anywhere , NEW YORK , NEW YORK”. Leadership is everything , from the top on down , I have been lucky and blessed . The change-of-command ceremony is a time-honored military tradition that marks the transfer of total responsibility and authority from one individual to another. It is conducted to demonstrate a continuation of trust and authority within the chain of command . I wish Rear Admiral Zeita Merchant, USCG ⚓️ 🛟 the best of luck in her new chapter , and can’t wait to be lead and continue to do great things under CAPT Jonathan Andrechik, USCG EXELLELENCE THROUGH OUR PEOPLEEXELLENCE THROUGH OUR MISSIONSEXELLENCE THROUGH OUR PARTNERSHIPS

We watched history repeat itself yesterday. What symbolism to hold the ceremony at the Roger's Theater where Hamilton is performed, and to have the George Washington character, Tamar Greene, sing the national Anthem.

Totally! Both ceremonies were moving and inspiring and the vibe carried out onto the street and into the NYYC. I love your collage.

Last week Sector New York held its North Hudson Area Maritime Security Sub committee meeting which was graciously hosted yet again by the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office in partnership with the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office . In attendance were over 80 port partners from both the private and public sectors. Every sheriffs office / police dept , along the Hudson was represented, NYSP ,NYSENCON, Rye & New Rochelle PD and more , along with various fire/emergency management partners and facility stakeholders. These meetings helps to ensure a more safe and secure Hudson River . This allows us and partners to communicate ,pass information , speak on important topics and discuss upcoming items . Building these relationships has been a goal of mine , it’s great to see what is has become . The North country has amazing men and women working alongside each other.Thank you CAPT Zeita Merchant, USCG ⚓️ 🛟 Captain of the Port and Deputy Captain Jonathan Andrechik for speaking to the partners and showing your support . Captain Andrechik will be taking over as Captain of the port and Sector Commander this spring when Captain Merchant ( soon to be Admiral )Departs for her next assignment . We have been very lucky to have this leadership over the past 3 years and equally as lucky to have Captain Andrechik taking the charge . 3 Certifications of appreciation were also given to members of the AMSC for their constant commitment and contributions. Ulster County Deputy Sherriff Joe Steyer, Staff Sergeant Joseph Malorgio of the New York State Police Aviation Division and Sergeant John Butcher of the Westchester County Police Department.Thank you All!!📷creds: Dan Henry Public Affairs CGSECNY#uscoastguard #uscgnewyork #hudsonriver#maritimesecurity #amsc #coastguard #portsecurity
