The best I can tell is that Gary Parrish said the kid had good handles. Good handles does not mean one should play the point. Last year he basically had a 1:1 assist to turnover ratio while taking the most shots on the team--a vast majority of his shots (58%) were from beyond three, yet he only shot 29.9% from behind the arc. Plus, he consistently had below average defensive ratings and a tendency to get into foul trouble (averaged 3.5 fouls per game in SEC play). | ||

With all the question marks surrounding Johnson at the PG spot, in my mind, I was certain that CJP's main focus was going to be on getting a PG that can be productive in his system. I would hope that in Martin or Tarrant, he's found that guy either individually or by committee, and won't have to use another scholarship on a PG. | ||
