Very interesting read. Still see some parallels from 1967 to today.

Disarmament Down time at home on this Saturday evening- especially after watching some wild WM Open activity this week on tv, and in person, has lead me to share some musings about interesting scenarios that arise at one's own golf club, at which one has had a hand in the development and design thereof. What a great life all of us have had in the design and construction business, creating these entities that people enjoy on a regular basis. I sometimes forget how interesting it is for most golfers to want to understand the underpinnings, the where-to-fors, the whys of what they are experiencing. Sometimes in depth; sometimes in just a passing manner. With more discretionary time to spend at our club gym, practice areas and course, comes more exposure to those that may have questions about what was implemented- especially with new members, as our club has experienced a large scale turnover from the original members of 28 years ago. I now have an even deeper respect for how my long time boss Tom Fazio has handled such things with aplomb, humor and grace. Having seen first hand his respect for all questions, and his skill in explaining, with a charming and disarming ability, all things golf, I am finally beginning to learn how to apply these techniques to the increasingly frequent encounters I personally have had over the past 10 years. I feel that those who have more interesting questions and perceptions than typical, need to be awarded in recognition of their deeper thinking about what this game, and the surface created upon which this game is played, means to them. So... hopefully they can accept, with the same sense of humor their critiques are accepted, this small token of their achievement that I have created and pass along. And with the same tongue-in-cheek sensibility...

If more companies actually took steps to "grow the game" instead of just repeating the line over and over again, we would all be better for it. Golf consumers are starting to see through those empty words. Here is a simple equation:More golfers + more enjoyment = Increased demand across the industryLet's push each other to do more things that make people feel welcome, break down the cost barriers, and help people learn about this complicated game.

💭 Tip Tuesday with General Manager, Marc Russell, PGA, at Stone Creek Golf Club located in Ocala, FL."When Practicing, Practice With A Purpose."Try to find the center of the club face to help maximize the output you get from your club. Take a bottle of foot spray for a driver or a dry erase marker for an iron and apply it to the face of your club. Continue to hit balls to see where you strike the ball on the club face. This will give you instant feedback for what you may be trying to fix on the range. Having the knowledge to know where the ball makes impact with the face of the club will help in determining the next steps in solving your swing flaws.

As LIV Golf make another big signing, we want to revisit some work we did toward the end of their first season (https://lnkd.in/eambNZfk)Whilst opinion was clearly polarised at that time, according to our research, we now wonder if this has changed. New big name signings like Jon Rahm and now Tyrell Hatton from the PGA TOUR clearly gain attention. How has your opinion on LIV changed with time? A key part of this work looked at whether businesses should considering sponsoring LIV Golf members. It is work like this that Gather Collective members value as we help them navigate the golf business landscape. Our subscribers gain access to digests of these work to help them stay up to date with developments in our industry. #golfindustry #golfbusiness #golfmarketing

No matter what you do, this remains the same: Time + Effort + Dedication = Results.I want to share a proud dad moment... My 16-year-old son, Tanner, has been passionately pursuing golf for the past year. This summer, he made a commitment to focus on practice and tournament play.Yesterday, he carded an 81 at the challenging Waterchase Golf Club in Arlington, TX. Just a few months ago, in June, he played the same course from a closer tee box and scored a 92. Much of his improvement can be attributed to the mental aspect of the game.Golf might not be everyone's cup of tea, but the unwavering mental focus required is its toughest challenge. And... the same principle holds true for business. The more you invest in practice, the harder you work, and the deeper you delve into your craft, the more mentally prepared you become for the challenges that lie ahead. So, whether it's golf, business, or any other endeavor, remember this: Put in the work, and success will follow." ⏳💪🏌️♂️ #DedicationPaysOff #MentalStrength #BusinessSuccess
