What sweet potato should I be looking for?

Sweet potatoes are extremely difficult to cut when they are raw. They are thick and dense, and are extremely difficult to cut, if you don’t have a sharp knife.

When looking for sweet potatoes at your grocery store, we recommend finding thin and skinny sweet potatoes so they are easier to cut into thin slices.

The thinner the sweet potato slices, the better. They will cook more evenly, and be more crisp.

Could I make this recipe using any potato?

You could most definitely use any potato to make this recipe. You may need to watch them more carefully as they microwave

They may need more or less time depending on what potatoes you use.

I would set the timer for 1 minute, check them, then add more time as needed.

Could I bake these instead of microwaving them?

You could definitely bake these sweet potato chips, instead of microwaving them.

I would heat the oven to 350 degrees and bake for 10 minutes, flip, and bake for another 10 minutes, or as needed.

I will be making these very soon! They look delicious!

  2. Ellen says:

I am definitely going to be making these. They sound so good. On a side note, I really dislike your bottom bar that pops up about the mascara. It is almost impossible to scroll without hitting it. Plus that you have them on your pictures too, is a real negative for me. Just thought you should know.

  3. Gwen Watson says:

These baked sweet potato chips are crunchy, tangy, and have just the right amount of salt. I love using malt vinegar in recipes such as this because it seems to taste great with potatoes. This recipe would also be good with regular potatoes, but it won?t be as healthy!

  4. Joan Wilkins says:

These sound so good! The baked sweet potatoes slices seem to fare better than thin regular potatoes drying out better instead of turning to mush.Rather than brush on the vinegar, I thought of using one of those travel size empty spray bottles like you get at the dollar store to spray the vinegar on the chips.

  5. Amanda says:

Do you have to soak in ice water and dry? A lot of chip recipes say to do that. Thanks.

  6. Cyd says:

We do not soak these in ice water and dry. Just make them as directed on the recipe. They are so easy and delicious.
